This is such a refreshing cocktail that I tracked down and changed up years ago, the beautiful colours and the sublime taste will be a hit at your next Cocktail Party or ladies get together. No offence to the gents, but this one is too sweet for your masculine taste buds.
Let's get started...
You'll need:
15 medium sage leaves
250g blackberries
15ml chambord
30ml vodka or bacardi
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup water
Soda water
Bring the water and sugar to a boil over high heat just until sugar dissolves - this creates sugar syrup and you can make extra and keep it in the fridge for almost forever!
Crush the sage leaves with the back of a spoon to bruise them up then add to the syrup mixture and set aside to let the sage infuse for 15 minutes and then remove the sage leaves.
Meanwhile puree the blackberries in the blender or, if you have a muddling stick - give them a good beating inside your cocktail shaker and then strain the mixture through a fine strainer. Clean the cocktail shaker as you will need it again in a moment.
To serve place a tablespoon of the blackberry puree in the bottom of a glass, fill halfway with crushed ice. Next, add the measurements of alcohol to your clean cocktail shaker and add a small scoop of ice cubes and get shaking until your hand is icy cold!
Simply strain the liquid into your glass, a good dash of the sage mix and top with soda water. Serve in a short, chunky glass and garnish with a sprig of sage and a blueberry or two on a toothpick.
Enjoy.
