Towards the end of 2011 we started seeing flashing lights directing us to neon signs and now, mid way through 2012 - it has arrived. Fluorescents are officially taking over the streets and homes around the world!
Just like everything else, color... and we mean heart stopping, eye-popping, incandescent fluorescents should be used in moderation and when you get it right, they really can bring a lot of fun into your home.
Ultimately, regardless of trends, we want our homes to remain classic and timeless. This can still be achieved when using neon colours (which we will show you in a moment) and best of all, this colour trend won't break the bank.
The easiest way of showing off your love of these tones is by using them as simple highlights. There is no-need to run and purchase paints, throws, cushions and chairs to pull this look together as this will create complete overkill (see very last image). Simple, punchy, vibrant accessories mixed with dulled, muted shades, blank canvases or neutral timbers works best.
As for fashion, stick to the same principles. Plain black t-shirt, black blazer and super skinny neon jeans. As a tip, be careful with your hair colour and skin tones - we don't want you ending up looking like an 80's inspired Barbie! If your a brunette; you can pretty much have free reign and can use the colours wherever you like. However, if you are blonde - I would steer clear of using fluro too close to your face and simply use the neon colours in your heels, jeans and clutches. If you have beautiful auburn or red hair, I would move closer to using accessories and heels in your choice of colour (however, avoid lime green).
Beware: Too much color can turn into a disaster very quickly... It will engage a life of its own, becoming wild and unruly and then before you've had time to think twice - you end up with catastrophe over class.
Enjoy.

The below image is a result of pure, neon overkill...
You will end up with a room looking more like a Dr.Seuss movie than an oasis!
